Hate filling out captchas? Bookmarking Demon 5.1.1 was released today with visual aid support. What this means is that Bookmarking Demon is now integrated with DeCaptcher.com, one of the more well known captcha services online. Instead of using an automated system to solve captchas, DeCaptcher uses humans to solve them. You do have to pay $2 per 1000 solved captchas, but that is a small price to pay in my opinion for total hands-free automation.

To make use of the new Bookmarking Demon visual aid feature, you just need to enable it in the preferences.

I love the fact that Edwin is continually adding new features and bug fixes to make Bookmarking Demon the best social bookmarking tool in the business. There is no similar software in the market now that is able to match its level of automation.

Bookmarking Demon is a really useful social bookmarking tool, and it’s still a daily part of my link building process. It’s both fast and simple to use. Still, I’m always looking for an extra edge when building links on social bookmarking sites and I’ve come across a cool tool called Synnd. Instead of you bookmarking your own sites using Bookmarking Demon, Synnd leverages the power of it’s 800 plus members and has them build backlinks on social bookmarking sites for you. Everything is mostly automated, and after a few months now as a member, I’ve found I’m getting some really nice results with it. In this Synnd review, I’m going to share with you exactly how Synnd works and how to use it.

The Synnd system is based on the idea of credits. To obtain credits, you need to need to build links for other Synnd member’s campaigns. Everything is done through the Synnd dashboard, which is a really slick looking web application. To start, you first need to create or add your accounts on the social bookmarking sites that Synnd currently supports. The list of sites changes frequently, but at the time of this review, Synnd currently supports the following sites:

Bibsonomy

BlinkList

Delicious

Diigo

Faves

Folkd

Jumptags

Mister-Wong

MyLinkVault

Url.org

Digg

Mixx

Reddit

Twitter

Instead of manually logging in to each site and adding people’s bookmarks, Synnd makes this simple by semi-automating the process. When you first start, you need to install a program (Windows only) called the Remote Automator (RA). Then in the Synnd dashboard, you can get a list of outstanding campaigns that need bookmarking and you can bookmark their links directly in the interface. Behind the scenes, the Synnd system will connect to your Remote Automator to complete the tasks, although the bookmarking process themselves are run on the Synnd servers. You also get a free 500 credits as part of the basic membership, which is even distributed to you throughout the month. If you need more credits, you can also signup for more expensive membership options.

To build backlinks to your own sites, you need to setup campaigns in Synnd. All campaigns must be manually approved before going live. Synnd currently separates its sites into three different types of campaigns: Syndication Campaigns, Bookmarking Campaigns, and Twitter campaigns. Syndication campaigns are for non-promotional content that you want to promote on Digg, Mixx, or Reddit. Each of these three sites have some sort of voting mechanism to indicate the popularity of user submissions. Since these sites are pretty strict about the content submitted, the Synnd reviewers are also very strict about approving syndication campaigns. Don’t bother wasting time submitting posts that have obvious affiliate links as they won’t get approved. However, if you have some great content that you think could get spread virally with a little help, you definitely want to give a syndication campaign a try.

Bookmarking and Twitter campaigns are a lot less strict and easier to get approved, and the two I normally use to build backlinks and get traffic with. For bookmarking campaigns, you need to submit a spun title, description and tags, so that each submission to the system will be unique. Twitter campaigns are even simpler to submit to, as no spinning is required at all. You also need to specify the max number of credits to spend on each campaign, and how many credits per day each campaign will receive.

There’s a bit of a learning curve to getting started with Synnd, but once you are up and running you shouldn’t have too many issues. There’s an excellent Synnd user guide which I recommend you read through before getting started. Like I mentioned, the dashboard is very slick and simple to use. You can see the status of all your campaigns at a glance, and see how many credits you have spent and earned.

The only problem I have with Synnd, is that campaigns only seem to be approved like once per day. So if you campaign gets rejected for whatever reason, you normally to wait a whole day to get it re approved. Another issue I have, is that even if you have a ton of credits, there’s still some built in throttling so you can’t spend too many credits a day, no matter how many campaigns you have.

Still, I am quite pleased with my results with Synnd so far. Used in conjunction with Bookmarking Demon, I am able to build links to my sites on social bookmarking sites very easily. Plus, since my urls are getting bookmarked on the same site multiple times by different users, I definitely see some traffic from these sites as well. I love how everything is basically automated, and it makes building links super simple. A Synnd membership is $67 a month, but you can sign up for a Synnd trial to get 14 days of access for only $1. That’s more then enough time to see if the system works for you.

Synnd definitely has the potential to become a great social bookmarking system. There’s some really cool new features coming up in the next month or so, including article submissions and automated content spinning. When those things go live, Synnd could become the ultimate SEO link building tool. Anyway, try it out for yourself, and let me know what you think.

I was very excited today to receive an email from Edwin announcing the new Bookmarking Demon 5 release. I quickly downloaded BMD5 and after playing with it for a couple of hours this morning, I am quite impressed with the new features that were added. Although the look is still similar to BMD4, the layout has been completely revamped and is much better organized. Anyway, in the rest of this post, let me give you guys an overview of the new changes of Bookmarking Demon 5.

The first big change of BMD5 is the new project management interface. This gives you a way to create a project for your different bookmarking campaigns and organize them more effectively. For example, I can now have one project for my Affiliit Review blog and another one for my Affiliate Marketing tips site. If you don’t want to create a project, you can always use the Default Project that comes with BMD5. Some people use Bookmarking Demon as part of their automated social bookmarking backlink services and this is a great way to organize and track your bookmarking submissions for each client.

Bookmarking Demon has always been really easy to create new social bookmarking accounts with, but BMD5 makes this even simpler with the new email verification function. As you know, when you create accounts on social bookmarking sites, many of them require you to login to your email and click on a link to verify your account. With BMD5, you don’t have to do this anymore. Now you just add in your email accounts, and the software will perform the account verification for you with a click of the ‘Process Emails’ button. There is default support for the gmail account settings, although you do have to login to your gmail and manually enable POP access so BMD can properly retrieve your emails.

Of course any automated social bookmarking tool is nothing without social bookmarking sites to bookmark to. Bookmarking Demon 5 comes with support for 29 main bookmarking sites and 100 sites overall. This includes some big ones like Digg, Mixx, Delicious, Blinklist and Propeller. BMD has always included Scuttle, Scuttle Plus and Pligg sites, but BMD5 also adds support for PHPDug sites as well.

The other noticeable feature you will see when creating accounts and bookmarking your sites is the new browser mode. Previously, Bookmarking Demon was sort of a black box and you couldn’t really see what was going on while it was operating. The new Bookmarking Demon 5 browser mode interface basically opens up an internal browser window and you can see everything that BMD5 is doing, from logging in, to submitting your bookmarks. You will also be entering in any captchas if necessary through this browser. Also, everything is now multi-threaded which means that the software can submit to mutiple sites simultaneously. This significantly shortens the time it takes for BMD to complete all of its submissions.

The last cool feature I want to highlight is the new scheduling feature. I know from the comments on this blog, that many people have been looking for a way to space out their submissions instead of doing them all at once. Now with Bookmarking Demon 5, you can. The software includes its own scheduler interface where you can specify exactly what sites you want to bookmark and when. Once you set it all up, BMD5 will run in the background and submit your sites at the time and date you’ve specified. Of course, this only works with the bookmarking sites that don’t require a captcha.

<a target="_blank"href="/go/bmd5">

I do have a couple of issues with BMD5 that I have encountered so far. For one, the list of social bookmarking accounts that say they require a captcha isn’t very accurate. In my tests, I had to enter in several captchas even though I had selected only accounts that BMD said didn’t require one. The other thing to note is that BMD5 still seems to have some stability issues, as the program did hang on me once. However, as a longtime BMD owner, I know that Edwin is really fast with the updates, so I am sure all these issues will be addressed in due time.

If you are an existing BMD owner, then Bookmarking Demon 5 is a free update, and you should have received an email from Edwin telling you where to download it. Otherwise, you can purchase the software for $147. The amount of time you will save with Bookmarking Demon is amazing, and it really is a must have program if you have a ton of sites you need to bookmark. After you grab your copy, make sure to check out my social bookmarking strategy for utilizing BMD to further dominate the search engine rankings for your sites.

Today, I am going to show you my strategy for building links with Bookmarking Demon because after talking to a few of you, I am convinced that many of you guys aren’t taking advantage of the full power of the software. Many of you are only using a small subset of the social bookmarking sites available in Bookmarking Demon, and only bookmarking their one main site.

In this post, I am going to show you how to build up a super powerful network of sites that will help your main money site rise in the search engine results. These are the same strategies that the internet gurus are charging hundreds of dollars for that I will share with you for free. Just keep in mind that this will take a fair amount of work. Trust me though, it’s a great long term strategy and will make you quite a bit of money.

The strength of Bookmarking Demon is its ability to create accounts and submit pages very quickly. So why would you limit yourself to bookmarking just your main money site? With this technique, we are going to take advantage of high authority Web 2.0 sites, RSS feeds and Article directories to build up a strong network of sites for us to bookmark.

Using Web 2.0 sites

What we are first going to do is take advantage of Web 2.0 sites that let us post our own content. Many of these sites that I list below rank very well on Google. For example, Hubpages is probably my favorite of these and I current have hubs that rank #1 for some highly competitive keywords. Check this out for yourself. Search for any popular internet marketing related product in Google and I guarantee that you will see some Hubpages, Squidoo, Blogger or Wordpress sites listed in the first couple of pages. I won’t go into how to use each site, but the main idea is to write a 500 word or so article that is related to your main site, and include a link back to your site using your targeted keywords as your anchor text. For each new page you create, ping it with a pinging service like Ping.in and add each one into Bookmarking Demon. By linking to these Web 2.0 properties, you are further increasing the strength of the link back to your money site. Here are some of the best Web 2.0 sites to use:

Hubpages

Wordpress

Blogger

Squidoo

Google Knol

Weebly

Wetpaint

Tumblr

Using Article Directories

Now take this same idea and apply it to article directories as well. This time, create a new set of original 350-500 word articles that you can use for submissions. Unlike the Web 2.0 properties, most article directories don’t let you put your links in the body of your article. Instead you need to create an author resource box which will appear at the bottom of your article. This is where you can insert a link back to your site. For the lazy, at least submit your articles to Ezinearticles and GoArticles. EzineArticles because their articles are usually highly ranked in the results and GoArticles because there is no waiting time to get your articles published. After each article is submitted, make sure to ping each article and add it into BookmarkingDemon for submission. Here is a list of the top article directories that currently give you dofollow links.

EzineArticles

GoArticles

Amazines

ArticleDashboard

ArticlesFactory

IdeaMarketers

ArticleCity

Using RSS Feeds

Your main money site should have it’s own RSS feed. In addition, when you add some content to the Web 2.0 properties I mentioned above, you will get separate RSS feed for each of sites as well. For article directories, many give you an RSS feed to your author profile. What we are going to do is take each of these feeds and submit them to RSS aggregator sites. When you add your RSS feed to each of these sites, they will actually create for you a new standalone page for you that contains the content of your feed with links back to the original page. Guess what that means? Yup, a new site that you can add into Bookmarking Demon to bookmark. A nice side benefit that I have found from using these RSS feed aggregators is that they allow your pages to get indexed by Google extremely quickly. All you need to do is ping these RSS pages whenever any content changes. Here are some of the best RSS aggregator sites to use.

Zimbio

Feedagg

Feedage

Feedbite

BadRSS

Final Thoughts

The more effort you put into this link building strategy, the more benefits you will see from it. The result is your very own blog network that you control and costs nothing to setup. Each additional page you create is on a site that has high authority and Google loves this content. Plus, they give you the power to use any anchor text you like to link back to your page. A site like Hubpages gets a lot of internal traffic as well, so you should see increased traffic along with the SEO benefits. As I mentioned earlier, this Web 2.0 strategy is not new, and is used by many people. However, the twist though is to use your copy of Bookmarking Demon to exponentially increase the strength of your blog network. If you perform just one Bookmarking Demon run on each new page you create, that’s at least 100 extra links to your network that is all funneling back to your main money site. Just think about doing multiple runs with it. This is what makes this Bookmarking Demon strategy insanely powerful.

I hope you liked this post and in my next one I will show you how you can save a ton of time building up this blog network by spending a little bit of cash. I also have an additional bonus for you guys. If you want to find out where I learned this original Web 2.0/RSS strategy and understand it in more detail, I have access to an audio interview with internet guru Jason Katzenback called Web 2.0 Cash, where he discusses this technique in depth. It is about an hour long, and I guarantee you will learn a lot from it. All you need to do, is put in your name and email address in the form below, and I will give you access to it immediately for free. Don’t worry, I don’t spam.

Purchasing BookmarkingDemon was quite straightforward. I immediately received my download link and I had to enter my name and email address so I could receive my password. One bad thing is that my main system is a Mac and Bookmarking Demon is for Windows only – so I had to go grab my Windows laptop to install the software on. The site says it works with Windows XP, but I was able to get things working on Vista. The download link I got was for the May 24th version of BookmarkingDemon and from reading the help, the software gets updated quite often.

When you first start BookmarkingDemon, you are first asked to input your password which you should have received in your email. Once that’s in you are dropped into the Drivers screen.

A driver is basically a single bookmarking site and this first page allows you to create your accounts at all sites currently supported by BookmarkingDemon. The first thing I did was click on the Create accounts for all drivers button. This pops up a dialog that lets you input your users’ First name, Last name, Login, Password, and email. Now here’s the first cool part. If you enter a bunch of login names separated by commas, BookmarkingDemon will randomly pick from the list of names to create an account with. Think about it, that’s a great feature. After you enter the user account info, Bookmarking Demon will start doing its thing and create the accounts for you. Unfortunately, you can’t walk away at this point as you have to enter in a bunch of CAPTCHAS as they pop up. The process takes several minutes, but when it’s complete you’ll see a list of what sites Bookmarking Demon was able to create accounts for. As bookmarking sites are always changing, so is BookmarkingDemon, but it looks like it will never reach 100% a success rate. Still, in my limited experience, account creation works well enough.

Up Next: Bookmarking my site

Edwin has always been great about releasing Bookmarking Demon updates, and I just received his email announcing the latest Bookmarking Demon 4.2 release. I know some of you in the comments had been worried about the lack of main bookmarking sites, so I think you will be happy with this new version. Bookmarking Demon 4.2 now has added support for three new bookmarking sites.

Mixx PR 8 dofollow

FolkD PR 7 dofollow

Oyax PR 4 dofollow

Mixx is one of my favorite social bookmarking sites, so I am really excited that they added support for it. The only disadvantage with these new sites is that they require you to enter a captcha for every bookmark. I just tested it out myself, and it is a little more inconvenient. However, the software is smart enough to continue bookmarking to other sites while waiting for your captcha input. If you don’t want to go through the trouble, you easily toggle these captcha requiring sites with the new checkbox at the top.

Other new features include support for private proxies, a faster and more accurate website crawler, and the bookmarking logs are now externalized so they don’t get removed when you delete a webpage.

The big news however, is that this is the last release of the Bookmarking 4 series, and work has now begun on Bookmarking Demon 5. There are almost no details about what new features will be added, but you can see from the screenshot that Digg is one of the new sites. =)

Remember, existing users always get free updates for future releases, so make sure you grab your copy today before any future price increases.

There are a lot of new changes in the recently released Bookmarking Demon 4 Beta and I like to give a quick overview of the new features of this version. I’ve been using it for a couple of days now, and even though it’s only 60% complete, I’m actually quite impressed with what I’ve seen so far.

The first thing you’ll notice after downloading BMD4 is that there is no installer. Just run the executable and the program launches. This is especially useful now if you want to carry BookmarkingDemon 4 on your thumb-drive or sync it with a web syncing service like DropBox. Speaking of sharing though, one not so cool change in BMD4 is with the license agreement. The previous version of Bookmarking Demon allowed you to run your copy on multiple computers simultaneously. Unfortunately starting with version 4, you can install the program on multiple computers but only one instance of Bookmarking Demon can be run at a time.

When you launch BookmarkingDemon, you’ll first notice the complete UI overhaul. All the buttons are nice and big, and it just feels more accessible than the spartan interface of BMD3. At the top left, you’ll notice the ‘For Beginner’ and ‘For Experts’ tabs. Beginner mode essentially hides many of the advanced features of the interface so that novice users aren’t overwhelmed. Experts mode gives you access to everything.

Creating Accounts

The account creation page is the first thing you will see when launching Bookmarking Demon. Creating accounts is similar to BMD3 except that everything is streamlined by being accessible on the same page. By separating usernames with commas, Bookmarking Demon will randomly choose a username for each account you create. In BMD4 beta, there are currently on 5 main bookmarking sites: Delicious, a1-webmarks, searchles, faves.com, and spurl.net. More should be coming in the final release. Press the Create Now button and Bookmarking Demon goes off to create your accounts. You’ll be required to enter a captcha for any sites that require it. Once it’s done, you’ll get a dialog showing you whether or not Bookmarking Demon was able to create your account or not. You’re also reminded to check the email you used and verify any of the accounts that require email verification.

Bookmarking Your Pages

Adding your pages is now super easy to do as well. Just enter your urls in the textbox and click the Add Now button. Bookmarking Demon will now by default, automatically try and grab your site information from the meta tags. New to BMD4 is the { | } syntax in the description field. This allows you to specify alternate keywords in your descriptions to help avoid any duplicate content penalties. Now you can enter something like “Bookmarking Demon is a {great|impressive|awesome} piece of software” and BMD will choose between one of those 3 keywords when submitting to a particular site.

It is important when submitting your urls to the main bookmarking sites to avoid appearing like a spammer. One way to do this is to hide your links among other legitimate links. A great new feature is the ability to add RSS feeds, and Bookmarking Demon will randomly pull articles from these feeds your specify and submit them along with each of your urls. You can set this in the Preferences (available in Expert Mode). I’ve been using the rss feeds from Digg and Techcrunch and it works quite well.

Once you’ve set up your urls and added your feeds, it’s a simple matter to hit the Start Bookmarking button and submit your sites. A dialog pops up with a lot of information telling you what exactly the program is doing in real time. After several minutes, all your urls should be added. In each of my tests, all my bookmarks were successful submitted to each of the 5 main sites.

All in all, I think the BMD4 beta is quite an improvement over its predecessor. I like the UI changes quite a bit and the whole process of creating accounts and submitting your sites just feels a lot easier to do than before. Of course, it only supports 5 main bookmarking sites at the moment which is somewhat lacking. I’m hoping to see more added soon, as well as the introduction of the pinging feature. There are also several options in the preferences that I haven’t played around with yet, so I’m interested in doing some more exploration. I know existing owners of Bookmarking Demon have been impatient while waiting for the final release of Bookmarking Demon 4, but I think the beta is a nice step, and it shows us that Edwin is working to make Bookmarking Demon great. While we’re in this beta period, you can still get in at the old $97 price. So if you’re contemplating buying BMD4, make sure to get in while you can before the price gets raised.
